Cant get it right all the time Dracil
on Feb 25, 2006
Darn DG... I thought that meant he submitted 3 games.
on Feb 25, 2006
ROFL!!! One can always hope. I won't be able to submitt until my SN gets sorted.

Sorry fellow diplomats. I replayed my game to a 60000 score, then I reset my table so that I'd have a clean slate with the 60000 points so that it's not diluted. Metaverse then decided to bug, and it seemed like it posted, but it was nowhere to be found. I submit again, and it tells me it's already been submitted before.

So I'm back to 0.

Too funny. Oh well... More aliens left to kill.

No probs Dracil... We are after all Diplomats.. So let the others race forwards whilst we just bide our time

Mr FC how comes the plans for my new Influence adjuster Terror Star??

As there are some familiar faces and old friends around here, I've decided to become a Diplomat (as long as you've got no rules about exterminating Yor with extreme prejudice)... for now.

Was toying with the idea of starting up my own Empire, but haven't really got the time to maintain a website et al right now, so lets get it on.

One point you might be interested in, a Cultural win now scores more than a Diplomatic win (was t'other way round in GC1). Game I finshed last night with a Cultural win, submitted for 67K, reloaded to 2 turns before win and bribed an alliance to win on the same turn... 57K.

Magnum... Glad to have you.

Interesting with score difference. BTW, anyone know what the max points are for a game in the 'verse yet? Saw a couple of tech-whoring strats in the forums. Normal difficulty and below. Did that become ineffective above normal in GCI. (Actually didn't they forbid it completely above normal?) It'll be interesting to see if the devs let that cheese on the table at the higher difficulties in GCII.

Tech-whoring is how I turned my 33k score to 65k (the one that didn't submit right). I just left the AI one planet while I researched all the techs and reloaded whenever they decided to flip to me.

Military wins still seem to give the best scores, so turn off all those victory conditions.

So plan of action now is:
0) Turn off victory conditions, tech rate to very fast.
1) Achieve dominance through whatever means until enemy has a single planet left
2) Turn all manufacturing centers into research buildings and research everything.
3) Turn those research centers into farms and morale boosters, reduce tax rate as needed.
4) Declare war and make that last planet surrender and submit game when your pop is about as high as can be sustained.

That should maximize score yield per game.

Also, max score so far seems to be over 100000, as the top player in the metaverse has a single game played.

Hummmm... Seems a little too easy Dracil. But then again it's a new game, a new AI. What were your starting conditions?

Magnum... Same question... What were your starting conditons?

Number of races, galaxy size, planet and star density, starting race and attribs... You know the usual stuff.
on Feb 26, 2006
OK, last game was Huge, all planet options to normal mid-point setting, all victories enabled, max races, suicidal difficulty (doesn't show up in meta submission ).

Custom race - 5 pts into Diplomacy (of course ), 3 pts PQ, 2 pts Research. Populist party for more Diplo bonus.

Lesson learned - turn off Cultural victory, happens too fast! Looking at the scores of other players, it doesn't look as though the diff level has much effect on the score, and tech whoring is the way to go...
on Feb 26, 2006
Starting conditions? Rare planets, stars, habitable planets. Small map, common anomalies. Very fast tech, 0 victory conditions on. Most civs can get at most low class planet, which makes the playing ground much more even. Drengin and Yor disabled.

Diplomacy Econ max Federalist party playing as the Iconians (last time) or Arceans (this time).

Well, here I am, and I seem to have failed to read the manual on how to submit a game to the metaverse. Scratch game 1. Off to slay more baddies I guess.
on Feb 27, 2006
Hey Chip... Good to see ya.
on Feb 27, 2006
... suicidal difficulty ...

AND

and tech whoring is the way to go...

Interesting. Surprises me that the devs let that slip by at higher difficulties given all the abuse it saw in GCI.
